As eWaste Challenge Mounts, Recyclers Step Up

The issue of eWaste in the United States is one that can no longer be ignored. By some EPA and Solid Waste Authority estimates, electronic products constitute the fastest growing category of municipal waste. Several predictions are being made that have grave implications for the environment; take a look at these eWaste forecasted volumes:

By 2004…Gartner Inc. predicts nearly 100 million PCs are likely to be replaced by end of year.

Through 2005…a quarter billion PCs will be made obsolete according to estimates by the Environment Protection Agency (EPA). The National Safety Council puts this number even higher at 315 million PCs.

By 2007…more than 500 million computers will be discarded, resulting in ...full article
